Money Shouldn't Be Complicated

We started lunastra-noviq because budgeting felt broken for most people.

Back in 2018, we noticed something odd. Everyone had budgeting apps, spreadsheets, and financial advice coming at them from every direction. Yet most people still felt completely lost with their money. That's when we realized the problem wasn't lack of tools — it was too many tools making everything unnecessarily complex.

The Lightbulb Moment

Our founder Kestrel was sitting in a coffee shop in Brisbane, watching a friend stress over seven different finance apps on her phone. She had spending trackers, savings goals, investment monitors — you name it. But she couldn't tell you if she could afford dinner that night.

That's when it clicked. We'd been thinking about money backwards. Instead of adding more complexity, what if we stripped everything down to what actually matters? What if budgeting could be as simple as knowing three numbers: what comes in, what goes out, and what's left over?

Small Team, Big Impact

We're intentionally a small team. Kestrel handles most client relationships because she believes financial planning works best when there's genuine connection and understanding. Ryder brings the analytical expertise, especially for complex situations involving business income or investment strategies.

Neither of us came from traditional banking backgrounds, which might be why we approach money differently. Kestrel spent years in education, watching how people actually learn and change habits. Ryder worked in tech, where simple solutions usually beat complicated ones.

How We Actually Help

Most of our clients come to us feeling overwhelmed. They've tried budgeting before, but life gets in the way. Unexpected expenses pop up, income changes, or they simply forget to track everything for a few weeks and feel like they've failed.

We start with one simple question: what do you want your money to do for you? Then we work backwards from there. Sometimes that means aggressive debt payoff. Sometimes it's building an emergency fund. Often it's just creating space to breathe and make conscious choices instead of reactive ones.

The goal isn't perfect budgeting — it's sustainable progress that fits your actual life.
